A small selection of some of the events that have recently taken place as part of the YMM community.
YMM Awards 2019
June 2019 saw YMM host their 2nd annual YMM Awards, celebrating excellence in Design & Technology. The 10 awards were chosen and judged by our industry partners from over 80 nominations from schools across Malaysia. The ceremony was hosted at the amazing venue of the British High Commissioner's residence in KLCC where His Excellency Charles Hay opened the event. A huge thanks to all the industry partners and a big congratulations to all the winning students!
Model Making Masterclass

January 2019. Local partner schools and students were invited to an architectural model-making masterclass by local model-makers 'Model Graphics'.

The event, at Garden International School demonstrated a range of techniques and tips to produce a variety of items used in 3D models of buildings and environment. Model-making is an aspect of the Graphic Products, Product Design and Design & Technology courses and so learning from the professionals was invaluable. A huge thanks to Model Graphics for taking time to help our local teachers and students.

Primary School IET Faraday Challenge
Sam Morley of AISM was invited as a YMM judge for the 2018 IET Primary School's Faraday Challenge. Year 5 and 6 students designed prototype aeroplanes and transporters to move it across the library. Students were issued 140 Faradays as their official currency with which to buy all the required parts and tools to develop solutions. They also met some amazing real world engineers who acted as ‘hired consultants’ to help them with problem solving. A great day for all involved!
YMM Launch and Exhibition

March 2018. Over 130 people visited the showroom of our partners 'EcoWorld' to celebrate the great work YMM has been doing over 12 months. Deputy British High Commissioner Paul Rennie OBE launched proceedings where we had 15 exhibiting companies and 6 schools. There were plenty of hands-on activities related to D&T to be involved in and there was a real buzz surrounding D&T generated. The annual YMM Awards were also launched with winners announced later in 2018.

F1 in Schools SEAIS Final
Saturday 9th September saw the second 'F1 in Schools' South East Asian International Schools final. This fantastic event was the result of months of hard work by students from Sri KDU, Nexus, Garden International School and Australian International School. Based around developing skills in design, manufacture, testing, teamwork and communication, a great day was had by all. The winners are now off to the world finals 2018!
