The national initiative #mydigitalmaker movement was launched by Prime Minister Najib Razak in August, 2016 and is under the purview of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
#mydigitalmaker movement aims to galvanize support from eco-system players such as companies, universities, NGOs and other community members to cultivate digital making interest and skills amongst Malaysian children and youths. These include skills such as coding, app development, 3D printing, robotics, embedded programming and data analytics; all of which will ultimately help to strengthen problem solving and creativity amongst our future generation. This will subsequently put our students on the path toward some of the highest paying, fastest growing jobs in the world.
"Digital innovations are disrupting all sectors and creating new job opportunities. 90% of all future jobs will require digital making and design competencies. The digital economy is expected to contribute to 18.2% of the national Gross Domestic Product by the year 2020. Youth Made Malaysia’s push for Design & Technology are helping future-proof the skills of students in Malaysia."
